WEEKEND RECAP #39

Hi friends! Before I jump into my weekend recap, I wanted to let you all know that I currently have two coaching spaces available for the month of March.  If health and/or spiritual coaching is something that you're interested in, or simply have curiosity about, now is a perfect time to reach out.  Learn more about my services here, and find out what working together looks like here.  Looking forward to having a conversation with you! :)

This post is dedicated to Greg.  He constantly tells me how much he loves my Weekend Recaps, because it reminds him of what we did and our time together.  So sweet!

Friday afternoon started with me getting a new laptop and playing with it for the majority of the evening.  Love it!  We also watched a few episodes of the new season of House of Cards.  Did anyone else start it?  I'm excited for this season!

Saturday morning I made us breakfast burritos before we headed out of the house for errands. We dropped off a bunch of stuff at Goodwill, went to TJ's for groceries, and stopped at T-Pumps for tea with boba (Greg's current obsession, HA).

Later that afternoon Emma came down to visit, and requested my Tikka Masala.  I made that, and we had it with naan.  SO good!  As you can see, we sipped champagne too!  We ended the evening getting cozy on the couch watching Straight Outta Compton (soooo good that I'm bummed I didn't see it earlier).

Sunday morning we all walked to Urth Caffé for a delicious breakfast!  I had a tea latté and poached eggs with veggies on greens.  It was amazing!  My mouth is actually salivating now thinking about it.  HA!

That afternoon Greg and I went shopping, and I saw this on a wall.  Not condoning writing on a public wall, but I do love what it says.  #JustTheWayYouAre

My Mom was passing through on Sunday afternoon, so she stopped by for a few minutes to enjoy a cup of coffee with us.  Loved that surprise!

The rest of our Sunday was spent watching more movies (The Martian and Trainwreck, which were also great), and relaxing.  The weather has been chilly and rainy, which is my favorite time to hang inside with movies and a cozy blanket.

I would say that the majority of our weekend was relaxing, and filled with quality time.  My favorite!  How was your weekend?  Did you have a full to-do list, or was it spent relaxing? Maybe a mix of both?

See you Wednesday!

GIRLS WEEKEND IN COLUMBUS

FullSizeRender_4Hi beauties!  As you may have noticed, I took a few days off from blogging and work to have an extra long weekend with my girlfriends.  We traveled to Columbus, Ohio where our sweet friend Simi (and her equally sweet hubby) graciously hosted us (Paige, Ashten, and myself).  It was wonderful to spend so much quality time with friends, and come back relaxed, refreshed, and rejuvenated. We ate delicious food, walked around, enjoyed a barre class, got blowouts, and had the best talks.  Today I am sharing a simple, photo-filled recap! IMG_0803Filled with coffee and joy, Paige and I set out early in the morning to start out adventure.  I have to say, she and I have been on a trip together before (NYC last year), and she is such a great travel partner.  Love that!

FullSizeRender_2During our entire trip we had AMAZING food, cocktails, and coffee!  Seriously, not only was everything we had good, it was really great.  YUM!

FullSizeRender_3While I missed Charlie a ton, snuggling with their pups, Harrison and Ollie, certainly helped. Look at those adorable faces!

IMG_0816My heart is full of gratitude for such loving friendships, and I can't wait to have our next girls trip!

P.S.  If you have never been to Columbus, I highly recommend visiting.  I jokingly said I wanted to Yelp the entire city of Columbus, because everyone we met was so incredibly genuine and kind.  Plus, they have the most stunningly beautiful buildings and homes!  Can't wait to go back!

30 THINGS I'VE LEARNED BEFORE 30

hands-summer-party-colorful-largeHappy Monday!  Guess what?!  I'm 30 years old today!  30!!!  That feels like such a grown-up age to me.  No, I'm not one of those people that think 30 is old, nor am I someone that doesn't celebrate my birthday.  Can you tell? Ha!  I LOVE birthdays!  Yours, mine, and ours!  An entire day (or month, the older I get) dedicated to celebrating the fact that you are alive?  I'm in! Anyway, with all this new-found wisdom (I kid, I kid), I thought it would be fun to compile a list of 30 things I have learned up until this age.  I certainly don't know it all, but I do know a few things to be true (for me, from my own experience)  and thought I would share them.  I know I will continue to learn and grow, and that is so exciting to me!

30 THINGS I'VE LEARNED BEFORE 30

  1. Everything happens for a reason, my friends.  Also, it's helpful to remember: what goes around, comes around.
  2. While we may be equal, men and women are different.
  3. Finding a spiritual practice that you connect with is enlightening in and of itself.  Whether you're part of an organized religion or you're an atheist, you can still have a spiritual practice that works for you.
  4. Moisturizing your skin really does make a difference.
  5. Never stop learning.  Education is beyond the classroom, and knowledge is timeless.
  6. Relationships of all kinds take work, and are completely worth it.  However, that doesn't mean they need to be difficult.
  7. Don't let your past dictate your future.  Be grateful for the lesson, and move on.
  8. Quality > quantity.  Those Forever 21 dresses may be cute for a few wears, but a classic LBD will last for years.  This goes for just about everything in life.
  9. The older you get, the more you appreciate your parents.
  10. Worrying doesn't help an already seemingly negative situation.  In fact, the situation most likely isn't as bad as you think it is in the first place.
  11. Listen to the advice of others, but always do what feels best in your heart.
  12. Tests, quizzes, and grades do not determine your success.
  13. Our thoughts and words create our reality.  Choose wisely.
  14. Drinking a glass of water in between alcoholic beverages works wonders.
  15. Forgiveness does much more for yourself than it does for others.
  16. Travel as often and as much as you possibly can.  There are so many beautiful places in the world, and they are filled when even more beautiful people.
  17. Don't put up with people that don't value your worth.  Period.
  18. Give of yourself.  Like attracts like, goodness attracts more goodness.  Volunteer, donate, etc.  It isn't about money, it's about intention.  Kindness counts.
  19. Invest in yourself: mind, body, and spirit.  You're worth it!
  20. Diets don't work.  Listening to your body does.  P.S. If you don't love yourself at a size 16, you're not going to love yourself at a size 2.
  21. If you like something about someone else, tell them!  Whether it is their shoes, the way they smile, their sense of humor, whatever.  People like compliments!
  22. Be present.  Show up in life.  Do the work.  Live fully.
  23. Figure out what your partner likes, and do more of it.  That can be interpreted many ways, but the main essence is that love languages are indeed real.
  24. You always look better in photos than you actually think.  Trust me.  Look at photos from when you thought you looked "ugly, fat, skinny, etc."  You were gorgeous.  You still are!
  25. It's okay if you don't know what you want to do with your life.  I'll let you in on a little secret: most people don't.  With that being said, try new things until you figure out what you enjoy.  You can never have too many tools in your tool belt.
  26. Just because you don't agree with someone and their beliefs, doesn't mean you can't have respect for one another.
  27. People come in and out of our lives for a purpose.  Sometimes they are there forever, other times it is only for a brief encounter.  Cherish those moments.
  28. Keep in contact with your siblings.  They may even turn out to your best friends.
  29. Move your body!  You don't need to run a marathon or become a world class gymnast, simply stretch or take a walk.  Your body is magnificent, and you'll be thankful when you're older.
  30. Most importantly, LOVE.  Love yourself, love others, just love.  It's the greatest gift you can give and receive.

photo 3Thank you for taking the time to spend my birthday with me!  What is something that YOU have learned in life that you want others to know, too?  Please share!

WEEKEND RECAP #33

Happy Monday!  How was your weekend?  Did you celebrate Halloween?  My weekend was very full, but really fun, too.  I have LOTS of photos, so I'm jumping right into it! photo 1

photo 1After work on Friday we jumped in the car and headed to Ventura!  My Dad's birthday was earlier in the week, so we went out for sushi that evening to celebrate.  My rainbow roll was delicious!

photo 3Saturday morning, Greg, Charlie, and I went down to the beach.  It was a STUNNING day! The water was super glassy, and the sun was shining beautifully!  Greg decided to take a bunch of photos, and I am SO glad that he did!  He got some really great shots!  After our walk, we went and had a breakfast burrito on the pier (which ended up holding me over for the majority of the day).

photo 3Saturday afternoon I met up with some friends.  Starla and I have been best friends for 18 years (CRAZY how time flies), and I have know her cousin Jo for just as long, and we're all great friends!

photo 5

photo 1Saturday evening we went to a Halloween party.  Greg was a priest, I was a nun, and Charlie was a dinosaur.  My mom was the cutest kitten ever, and my dad was a USC coach.  :)

photo 2Sunday was church, lunch at Spencer Makenzie's (I got the ahi burger, and shared my fries with everyone), visiting with more friends, then heading home.  We spent the rest of the evening snuggling on the couch, and going to bed early (time change got me all mixed up, haha).

All in all, another fantastic weekend!  Tell me about yours!
