ADAPT, OVERCOME, AND IMPROVISE

Hi friends!  First of all, THANK YOU SO MUCH for all of the love!  The past week I have received so many loving and kind emails, texts, comments, etc. about our upcoming move, and also about my feature on The Couragemakers podcast (if you missed it, you can listen here).  You are all so kind, and I feel super loved, so THANK YOU again!

With the move happening this weekend, and all the packing that is going on, the house is currently in complete disarray.  For example, I made coffee this morning (because, DUH Jen, the coffee pot is the last thing that's going to be packed), but I forgot that I had packed all of my mugs.  So, I am currently drinking my coffee out of Mason jar with no handle (hot, hot, hot).  Adapt, overcome, and improvise, right?

Also, our sweet Charlie just doesn't know what the heck is going on.  He has just been wandering around aimlessly trying to figure out what all the boxes mean, and looking at me with these sad eyes that are screaming "Mama, what the heck is going on, and if you're going somewhere please take me with you!"  We've tried to do our best at reassuring him that he is loved and definitely coming with us, but I don't think he quite understands.  Poor baby.  If you have any suggestions on how to deal with animals during the moving process, please share!  I'm all ears!

Lastly, seeing as how we will be starting to load a 15' U Haul on Friday, unloading on Saturday, nesting on Sunday and Monday (4th of July), I will be back next Wednesday for an update (fingers crossed).

Send us your good vibes and lots of energy!  We're living off love and adrenaline right now, HA!

WHEN IT JUST FEELS RIGHT

Hi friends!  I've missed you the last few weeks!  I shared on Instagram the other day that I had taken a little time away from blogging as part of deep self-care.  We have an exciting change coming up in our life, and it felt best for me to take a little down time before all of the change occurs.  With that being said...

WE'RE MOVING BACK TO VENTURA!!!

YAY!  You have no idea how happy I am to share that news with you all, and how thrilled I am to be moving back to our sweet little town on the beach.  SO EXCITED!

A little over a year ago, Greg and I made the decision to move to Pasadena.  It was mainly so he could be closer to work and not have to commute as much, but it was also about stepping out of our comfort zone and embarking on a new adventure together.  And an adventure it has been!  While in Pasadena we adopted Charlie (greatest blessing ever) and explored a new city, but most importantly, stretched and deepened our relationship with one another.  While we are very happy to be moving back to Ventura, we are also grateful for the opportunities in growth and love that the past year has brought us.

There is a laundry list of reasons why we are moving back to Ventura, but the main thing it boiled down to for us was: It just felt right.  For me (and I can probably guess for Greg, too), when I closed my eyes and put my hand on my heart, the answer was clear.

Much more will be shared, but for now I am just super excited that we're finally able to fully spill the beans!

Thank you for all the love and support!

WEEKEND RECAP #24

Good morning!  Wow, I have missed blogging!  I've missed my readers, too!  Hope you are all having a beautiful day!  We are fully moved in, unpacked (that happened in 2 days, ha!), and adjusting to our new adventure in Pasadena.  I will talk more about that in upcoming posts, but we are doing well! As for today, I have a simple Weekend Recap to ease back into the swing of things.  Stay tuned, because later this week I have some fun posts, including an AWESOME giveaway! Here's a peek into my weekend...

1Friday evening Greg and I walked around Pasadena, where I ended up getting this refreshing, light, and absolutely delicious cocktail.  It had fresh watermelon juice, jalapeño, sparkling water, and gin.  It was soooo good!

2Saturday morning we packed up the car, and headed to Ventura.  I had mock panels for my upcoming Practitioner license, and we were also visiting for Father's Day.  We stopped at Urth Caffe in Pasadena on our way out, where I got a yummy juice (beet, ginger, carrot, celery) and the most delicious bread-pudding muffin.  I ate about 1/2 of it in the car, and saved the rest.

3Saturday evening after my panels, we had family over (at my 'rents house), where we chatted, ate tapas, and sipped light cocktails.  I made this yummy, light, and refreshing grapefruit (fresh) and vodka drink.  It has been so warm lately, that this was perfect!

photo 2Sunday morning I made a special Father's Day breakfast for my Dad and Greg (and everyone else).  I made two type of egg dishes (one vegetarian, and one with sausage), a big platter of fruit, and some foccacia bread (thank you TJ's).  The roses are from my parents' garden.  So pretty!  It was a delicious breakfast, filled with love.

photo 3In honor of Father's Day, my dad and I.  I was about three.  :)

After breakfast, we went to church, then out to lunch with Greg's son.  I didn't take any pictures, but I always love being around the two of them.  So much love!

photo 4Sunday afternoon before we left, mom and I planted a bunch of herbs (basil, peppermint, dill, cilantro, and chives), tomatoes, and re-planted a ficus tree that she and my dad bought Greg and I.  We also bought a hanging strawberry plant.  So excited!  Here is a peek at our patio after I put everything out there.  Minus the AstroTurf, isn't it cute?  Ha!

Really glad to be back at it!  Thanks so much for reading, and stay tuned this week for more fun/new stuff!

WE'RE MOVING!

Happy Friday!  Anyone have any fun plans for the weekend?  We're moving.  Yep, you read that correctly!  Many of you may already know, as I've posted it on social media, but I thought I would share a few more details here on the bloggy-blog. photo 2Greg and I are moving to Pasadena!  While Pasadena is only about an hour (withOUT traffic) from where we live now, it is a big change and transition for us.  While we are going to miss Ventura, the beach (!!!), our community, and most importantly family and friends, we are super excited for what is in store for us.

Why are we moving, you ask?  Well, Greg has been commuting for yearsss (mainly to the Los Angeles area), and the traffic has just been getting worse over time.  So, one day we made an decision to start actively looking for a place to live that was a shorter commute, and we chose Pasadena.  It is beautiful, up against the hills, and has the type of vibe we can groove to (did I just say that?!).  Plus, our new space is only a few short walking blocks to the downtown area.  Yay!

So, the main question that I have been getting is "What are you going to do?"  That is something that isn't set in stone (is anything, really?), but I will say that there will be lots of changes, and I'm really pumped about that.  PLUS, I'm so excited to decorate and design a new home!  EEEKK!

photo 1This is a big transition and change in our lives and relationship, and I am so, so, SO grateful for the support of family and friends.  It takes a village!

That's all for today, but I will definitely be sharing about our new home, decor ideas/DIY, and much more!  ALSO, if you live in Pasadena, or have any places/restaurants we should visit, PLEASE let me know!  Much love!
